Rev. Jessie Jackson announces Parkinson's diagnosis

#WordOnTheStreet is that civil rights activist Rev. Jessie Jackson, age 76, has just announced that he has Parkinson's disease, the illness that took his father's life. He said that over the last three years it's become increasingly difficult to get around and perform routine tasks. He reportedly put off going to the doctor for a while because of his work but when things became too challenging he paid them a visit. After a battery of tests, he was given the diagnosis. He stated "Recognition of the effects of this disease on me has been painful, and I have been slow to grasp the gravity of it. For me, a Parkinson's diagnosis is not a stop sign but rather a signal that I must make lifestyle changes and dedicate myself to physical therapy in hopes of slowing the disease's progression." We're sending prayers to Rev. Jackson as he journeys through this disease. We also pray for his strength to endure the battle.
